Dharamshala - Himachal Pradesh: A Spiritual Journey Into Nature

Known as India’s Little Lhasa, Dharamshala lies at an average elevation of 4780 feet, covering almost 9 Km. It is located in the Kangra Valley in the shadow of the Dhauladhar mountains. The hill station is wooded with oak and conifer trees as the snow-capped mountains enfold three sides of it.

Dharamshala is divided into two distinct sections-Kotwali Bazaar and surrounding markets as Lower Dharamshala or just Dharamshala. Up the mountain is McLeodGanj, which is separated by the village Ganchen Kyishong where the Tibetan government-in-exile is located.

The steep road connecting McLeodGanj and Dharamshala has taxis and small cars plying. McLeodGanj is very picturesque and surrounded by trees of pine, Himalayan oak, and flowers of rhododendron. Dharamsala houses the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet. In the monastery of the Dalai Lama, public lectures are held on many occasions in a year.
